The 2022 Met Gala

On May 02, 2022, Simone attended The 2022 Met Gala Celebrating “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This was her first ever Met Gala, and she went with Moschino – having been personally chosen by the Fashion House’s creative director Jeremy Scott. When asked how he chooses his MET guests, Scott explained – “It’s very personal; they have to inspire me and make me excited to want to muse something up.”

The theme for the 2022 MET Gala was gilded glamour – a reflection of the Gilded Age of New York, which spanned from 1870 to 1890. During this time period, the city was becoming progressively modernized socially, economically, politically, and even fashionably. The Met Gala paid homage to the tailors, dressmakers, and designers of the time — including names who’ve flourished and those who were forgotten but deserve to be remembered.
Simone attended as a guest of the fashion house Moschino, walking the red carpet alongside fashion designer and creative director of the fashion house Jeremy Scott. He said the following about Simone at the red carpet: “I’m so thrilled to have the girl of the moment, the true diamond of the season with me on my arm. I’ve often thought about her first scene in Bridgerton, and the mystery of who the woman with the big hooded cape galloping through the woods is.”
Simone went with her normal styling team for the event. Rebecca Corbin-Murray was her stylist, Peter Lux did her hair and Alex Babsky her make-up. |

Her outfit
Simone’s gorgeous MET outfit was a Custom Ensemble by Moschino x Jeremy Scott. Her stylist paired it with Jewels from DeBeers’ High jewelry line Light Rays Collection, and – despite the shoes mostly being hidden by her black skirt – Talika Pumps by Jimmy Choo from their Spring 2020 collection.
When asked about her outfit at the red carpet by Vogue, Simone said; “It truly is such an honor to collaborate on ideas, and to wear a piece designed by such an artist as Jeremy.”
Scott told Vogue that he played on Simone’s Bridgerton period drama background to create a look that was “one part regal, two parts rambunctious.” The outfit had a unique dramatic black satin opera coat inspired by Simone’s first Bridgerton scene, but it was unfortunately never showed worn on at the red carpet. “As she unbuttons it, you see this gold embroidered bustier top and a black high-waisted bias-cut skirt. It’s completely Simone: it’s chic, it’s regal, and it’s got this kind of silhouette that you don’t find on the red carpet that often” Scott explains.
